We are looking for an experienced and proactive Reactive & Planned Service Engineer to join our Fire, Security & TECS team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out both emergency reactive call-outs and scheduled preventative maintenance across a range of life safety, security, and telecom systems.
This role requires strong fault-finding ability, excellent customer service skills, and the capability to work independently across multiple sites while maintaining high compliance and safety standards.
The Job you’ll do
Respond to emergency call-outs within agreed SLAs.
Be part of an out of hours support team.
Diagnose and rectify faults across fire, security, and telecom systems.
Provide temporary and permanent solutions to system failures.
Complete detailed service reports and documentation.
Communicate clearly with clients regarding system status and required remedial works.
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM):
Carry out routine servicing and inspections in line with industry standards and contracts.
Test and inspect fire alarm systems (conventional and addressable).
Service intruder alarms, CCTV (IP & analogue), and access control systems.
Maintain TECS including structured cabling, intercoms, and associated infrastructure.
Identify and report system deficiencies and recommend remedial actions.
Systems Experience
Fire Alarm Systems (BS5839 compliant)
Intruder Alarms
CCTV Systems (IP-based systems preferred)
Access Control Systems
Emergency Lighting (BS5266 compliant)
TECS / Structured Cabling / Door Entry Systems
About You
Essential:
Proven experience in servicing fire and security systems.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Full UK driving licence.
Good IT skills for digital reporting systems.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Desirable
FIA qualification or relevant fire & security certifications.
ECS/CSCS card.
IPAF/PASMA.
Experience with major manufacturers’ systems.
Knowledge of SSAIB or NSI compliance requirements.
