We are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a well-established and expanding manufacturing site. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer—preferably with a background in food manufacturing—who enjoys problem-solving, teamwork, and working with a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving production machinery, ensuring equipment runs efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
The Job You’ll Do:
Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance on site equipment, including mixers, blenders, form-fill packaging machines, sachet machines, and metal detectors.
Maintain electrical and mechanical systems, as well as site facilities and infrastructure.
Perform basic boiler care (steam and thermal fluid) and chiller maintenance.
Correctly handle and use approved chemicals and food-contact equipment.
Manage documentation including certification records, machine data sheets, and inventory logs
Order spare parts, approved chemicals, and maintenance tools when required.
Ensure precise shift handovers and clear communication across teams.
Supervise contractors and issue permits to work.
Support and oversee installation of new machinery and equipment.
Conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring breakdowns.
Undertake special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist operators with machine operation and troubleshooting.
Drive site improvements in hygiene, quality, and performance.
Participate in internal and external audits.
Occasionally attend off-site training related to new or upgraded equipment.
About You:
Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or time-served apprenticeship).
Electrical qualification with 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification.
Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
Proven experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment (food sector preferred).
Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
A proactive and safety-conscious approach to all tasks.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Welding skills – preferred but not essential.
Food hygiene experience – training provided if required
