MTrec Technical are proudly partnering with our long standing, and prestigious manufacturing client, based in the Durham area with their plans for growth and expansion by recruiting an experienced and dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

This role will be working a continental style shift pattern- 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off.

The Job you will do:

  • As a Maintenance Technician, you will maintain and repair critical production machinery to optimum operating standards, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum production efficiency.

  • You will respond promptly to machine breakdowns, accurately diagnosing faults and implementing effective corrective actions to minimise disruption to operations.

  • You will actively support the engineering planned maintenance programme, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and helping to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

  • You will prioritise workload in accordance with engineering guidelines and overall business requirements to ensure critical tasks are completed efficiently.

  • You will liaise closely with engineering stores to manage and maintain appropriate stock levels of spare parts, ensuring key equipment can be maintained without delay.

About you:

  • Be qualified in line with current regulations, having completed a recognised apprenticeship and/or holding a formal City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent).

  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Possess working knowledge of PLC systems, control panels, and be competent in interpreting electrical schematic diagrams.

  • Be capable of working independently, using your own initiative, and applying strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Have excellent communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with colleagues, Team Leaders, Managers, and other departments.

  • Demonstrate relevant IT skills to support maintenance reporting systems and documentation.

  • Maintain good physical fitness to meet the demands of the role.

  • Show strong attention to detail to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality maintenance work
