The Job you will do:
Act as the primary HSE lead on site, visible and approachable to all staff
Regularly attend operational areas, sites, and workshops to observe work practices
Lead by example, demonstrating safe behaviours and challenging unsafe acts
Build strong working relationships with managers, supervisors, and frontline employees
Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation, regulations, and codes of practice
Carry out and maintain risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and safety tours, following up on actions
Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions
Deliver and coordinate HSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks
Coach managers and supervisors on their HSE responsibilities
Support employees with practical safety advice and problem-solving
Promote employee involvement in HSE initiatives and continuous improvement
Oversee environmental compliance, including waste, emissions, and resource management
Support initiatives to reduce environmental impact and improve sustainability
Ensure environmental risks are identified, controlled, and monitored
Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and management systems
Monitor performance using KPIs, inspections, and audits
Prepare HSE reports for senior management, including trends and recommendations
Manage HSE requirements for contractors and visitors
Review contractor risk assessments and method statements
Monitor contractor activities on site to ensure compliance
About you:
You must hold a NEBOSH equivalent qualification
You will also be required to hold a membership with relevant professional bodies- IOSH etc.
Demonstrable experience of working in a manufacturing environment with multiple stakeholders
Active contribution to day to day & longer-term problem solving in health and safety
Active working knowledge of HSE, NEBOSH and other health and safety standards
Understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements
Reporting methodology/relevant KPIs to drive understanding & change in health and safety
Risk assessment and hazard identification techniques
Knowledge of environmental management systems and sustainability practices
