Our client are specialists in their market sector, they are looking for a Design Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.

The Job you’ll do

  • Sets goals, priorities, and allocates accountabilities for the product design and development.

  • Work closely with Project Management, Platform Engineering and all business functions ensuring effective and timely actions versus the project requirements.

  • Lead technical reviews, keep and maintain tracking documents related to the delivery of products against customer gateways and timelines.

  • Take ownership of project responsibilities, producing clear and accurate 2D/3D designs and BOMs in line with project specification, timeline, target cost and associated standards.

  • Be fully competent with the PLM system and encourage full utilisation for document control.

  • Align tasks as per client Product Development and Commercialisation (PDC) process.

  • Contribute to project review meetings as required, organising and chairing cross-functional design reviews.

  • Generate a validation / DVP&R plan to mitigate any technical gaps versus project requirements.  

  • Be responsible for the relevant design and simulation activities allocated to a specific project.

  • Verify third party (independent) calculations conform to standards and the project needs.

  • Follow quality control objectives as per Automotive Quality Standards.

  • Leadership and mentoring of other team members as required.

About You

  • A HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline (e.g.: mechanical, manufacturing or industrial design).

  • Understanding of engine applications desirable.

  • Experience in a similar Design Engineer role.

  • Experience of using 3D CAD ideally CREO.

  • Originate from an engineering and/or manufacturing background with experience of modern manufacturing techniques and processes.

  • Knowledge of designing complex assemblies and kinematics essential.

  • Knowledge and experience of the automotive industry. 

  • Demonstrate engineering problem solving capabilities.

  • Computer literate with a very good knowledge of MS-Office.

  • Very good English language communication skills (oral and written).
