MTrec Technical are proudly representing– a long-standing and innovative manufacturing business – in their search for a Specifications Technologist to join their technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-focused and compliance-driven individual to step into a vital role within a forward-thinking and supportive environment.

You’ll play a key part in ensuring all product specifications meet legal, customer, and company standards. This role also involves working closely with labelling, artwork, and technical documentation; essential for maintaining product safety and customer confidence.

The Job You’ll Do:

  • Create, review, and maintain accurate product specifications using internal and customer systems.

  • Ensure all data is entered correctly, meeting food safety and regulatory requirements.

  • Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve technical queries and support product risk assessments.

  • Review and approve packaging, labelling, and artwork to ensure legal and brand compliance.

  • Stay current with UK and EU food legislation, ensuring company practices remain up to date.

  • Complete customer documentation, including allergen statements, SAQs, and certification applications (e.g. Halal, Kosher, Organic).

  • Support new product development with relevant technical input.

  • Maintain accurate records and support site documentation control processes.

About You:

  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to data accuracy.

  • Knowledge of, or interest in, food safety, technical compliance, and labelling legislation.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders.

  • Previous experience with specifications systems or customer portals is desirable but not essential.

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally within technical, production, and commercial teams
