Our client are looking for a Project Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

This role would possibly suit a fairly recent graduate who also has some industry experience.

 

The Job you’ll do

  • Accountable for the management of selected project orders and interface with the customer.

  • Responsibilities to include: 

  • Project Management and Planning

  • Attend internal pre contract meetings, as directed, and obtain required project information.

  • Provide technical advice prior to order acceptance.

  • Receive and Acknowledge receipt of detail drawings.

  • Prepare schedules, programmes, and registers in conjunction with detail draughtsman to provide internal and external communication and reporting mechanism. Monitor same and take responsibility for achievement of targets and objectives.

  • Monitor drawing office progress against critical path programme and prepare necessary main contractor weekly progress reports.

  • Attend all internal process meetings following order acceptance. Advise on status of design and/or detailing programme and obtain progress updates for client communication.

  • Attend client meetings, where instructed, to resolve design, detailing, technical and commercial questions as necessary and generally maintain obligations on the part of the Company.

  • Establish and maintain regular liaison process and procedure with clients on the detailing, technical and commercial aspects of projects.

  • Prepare and issue all formal reports as directed by the Technical Manager, whether for internal purposes or for client requirements.

  • Direct support, detail draughtsmen and administrative personnel, where required, for the effective operation of projects.

  • Design and Detailing

  • Ensure that the Company procedures with regard to quality assurance are adopted within the department.

  • Appoint support detail draughtsmen to projects in conjunction with the Technical Manager.

  • Review contract documentation, including tender details and co-ordinate or prepare, where appropriate, the production of drawings and details for client approval and for fabrication.

  • Raise, record, and resolve all technical queries with clients in so far as they affect design, detailing and fabrication.

  • Maximise returns to the Company by the most economical use of material and the most efficient detailing methods.

  • Maintain programme timescales for the production of drawn information, including records on the issue, receipt and approval of all project drawings and details.

  • Attend site for the purposes of establishing dimensions or to resolve queries to ensure correct implementation of fabrication.

  • Tabulate, record and agree variations to the project in conjunction with the Quantity Surveyor which entitles the Company to additional recoveries.

  • Supervise the printing and issue of all drawn information.

  • Assist the Technical Manager, where directed, on general and business matters

 

About You

  • The job holder must be efficient, self-motivated, organised, and a good communicator with excellent IT and interpersonal skills.

  • HND Mechanical Engineering Degree or Equivalent.

  • Ability to read technical drawings.
