The Company

Our client is a market leading FMCG manufacturer. Due to restructure, they are now looking to recruit and Production Operations Manager.  

The Role

  • Will be working a permanent day shift overseeing around 100 staff. 

  • You will manage the departmental process to meet all appropriate performance metrics including HS&E, Quality, Cost and Delivery, ensuring the production of quality product to the design specification.

  • Managing the overall department performance in line with company targets.

  • Responsibility for a departmental headcount of over 100 employees, working a mix of shift patterns.

  • Includes four direct report Shift Leaders.

  • Identify and eliminate waste within area of responsibility together with direct report and supporting departments.

  • Lead and facilitate improvement projects. Managing through teamwork and continuous improvement methodology.

  • Provide cross functional support to other production areas.

  • Main point of contact for supporting departments to review and develop resolutions as well as prioritising planned work activity.

  • Lead departmental performance reviews and facilitate any necessary actions.

  • Co-ordinate the Shift Leaders and Planning Dept on schedule adherence and capacity requirements.

  • Manage and maintain high levels of discipline and consistency.

  • Coach and develop subordinates via regular 1 to 1 activity to achieve set objectives.

  • Evaluate training and development plans for dept team.

  • Engage with union representatives and support on personnel issues to ensure localised concerns or disputes are resolved before formal escalation.

  • Identify capital improvement opportunities and provide justification report.

The Person

  • Must have experience in a similar role within manufacturing or engineering. 

  • A structured thinker, completer/finisher with strong motivational, influencing and interpersonal skills and high degree of resilience.

  • Extensive leadership knowledge and experience, able to demonstrate sound hands-on operational experience of successfully managing people within a manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent continuous improvement experience, able to manage change and improvements in a fast-developing continuous improvement culture environment.

  • The ability to manage teams, projects, priorities and able to implement and sustain continuous improvement values.

  • Logical problem solver with excellent fault-finding abilities.
