MTrec’s New Opportunity;

MTrec Technical are proudly representing our prestigious FMCG client, based in South Tyneside, by recruiting a HSE Advisor on a 6-9 month fixed term contract. A successful candidate will be responsible for working with external consultants and senior management to develop company policies, systems and plans for improvement, as well as supporting the health and safety activities and requirements of the business.

The Job You’ll Do;

  • Work with external consultants and senior management to develop company policies, systems and plans for improvement.

  • Will be directly involved in the delivery of the safety action plan and reviewing progress.

  • Will support the health and safety activities and requirements of the business. This will involve recommending changes in policy and establishing and maintaining the safety system.

  • Work to create a positive health & safety culture at all levels throughout the organisation via a current and visible health & safety plan.

  • Conducting audits and risk assessments and delivering the subsequent action plans. E.g. COSHH, Manual handling etc.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses. Will suggest actions to prevent recurrence and help deliver those actions.

  • Will have a delegated direct responsibility for providing health and safety advice and support to all levels of management within the organization and to employees as appropriate.

  • Will advise senior management on governing legislation (or changes in it) which have an effect on their operations/activities, ensuring that methods and procedures are altered to reflect any changes.

  • Lead H&S meetings and ensure timely notes and actions are sent out to the team.

  • Will attend formal safety meetings in any capacity deemed necessary, assisting in the formulation of agenda's, monitoring the performance of departments and the organization.

  • Ensure that all production employees carry out their duties in a safe & healthy manner complying with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

  • Will ensure the upkeep of the fire precautions, arranging evacuation practice, keeping records etc, and ensuring the adequacy of the first aid arrangements.

  • Will maintain accident figures/statistics for each department area and the company, watching for any trends whereby corrective actions may be necessary.

  • Monitor and co-ordinate ongoing mandatory health reviews with Occupational Health

About You;

  • Health & Safety experience essential with over 2 years experience in similar role

  • Good level of education and suitable candidates must have achieved NEBOSH General Certificate

  • Experience working and completing Risk Assessments, Audits and delivering H&S action plans is essential

  • Experience working in manufacturing or production environment desirable
