The Job You’ll Do;

  • Review/re-write or write Processes and Procedure (as applicable) and ensure they are properly imbedded in the department and in line with relevant local and UK legislation.

  • Create generic Risk Assessments for the major tasks that the department executes.

  • Conduct safety observations and compose hazard reports on a regular basis and ensure these are dealt with in the appropriate manner.

  • Educate employees on required safety standards within the workplace and be their focal point to improve safety.

  • Provide regular toolbox talks (TBT) on safety subjects to the department teams.

  • Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workshop and across the site and help/give guidance with regard to 5S standards and their implementation.

  • Act as the department H&S liaison when 3rdParty contractors are on site – help the maintenance manager control their activities.

  • Investigate departmental Near misses – Accidents – incidents for the department and identify possible root causes and recommendations for changes.

  • Attend department Managers walkabouts and inspections before and during each week to identify any possible H&S infringements and bring those to the maintenance manager’s attention and work with them to remove any possible issues.

  • Communicate the site H&S improvements to the departments at the regular maintenance meetings and be the focal point for issues from the staff – provide report to and discuss with Facility/Maintenance Manager to reach a plan and solution.

  • Help manage H&S cultural change across the Maintenance teams.

  • Work with the Facility Manager and Maintenance Manager on ensuring the internal management of change (MOC) process is used effectively and aligned with all TPM processes. This includes project planning from a maintenance perspective.

About You;

  • Ideally you will be NEBOSH or IOSH certified.

  • You will have experience of working in a manufacturing environment and either bee in a dedicated health and safety role or you will have been in a role which has had some of the requirements of this opportunity.

  • Relevant experience writing SOP’s.

  • Ideally you will have experience in Preventative Maintenance, practice and procedures.

  • Able to Produce Risk Assessments.

  • Knowledge and operation of PLC/computer-controlled equipment.

  • Good communications skills at all levels.

  • Conscientious and reliable.

  • Proactive and enthusiastic attitude.
