MTrec Technical are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading precision engineering and manufacturing organisation, seeking a Design Engineer to join their growing team in the heart of Northumberland.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced engineers with a passion for niche engineering solutions to develop innovative engineering solutions, manage projects, and act as a key technical interface between customers, internal engineering teams, and manufacturing functions within a cutting edge, and collaborative engineering environment.

The Job you will do:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer engineers through out their journey with the business.

  • Generate engineering solutions to customer requirements, using CAD to create 3D models and 2D drawings, potentially with the benefits of CFD analysis.

  • Manage allocated projects, including raising purchase orders for materials and equipment, and overseeing prototype builds and testing.

  • Collaborate with Production and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure a smooth transition into manufacture, ensuring processes meet customer requirements.

  • Support the Sales Department by providing technical expertise when required.

  • Maintain and archive all customer-related information in accordance with departmental procedures.

  • Work in compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

  • Ensure 5S housekeeping standards are maintained in areas under your control.

About you:

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is essential

  • Up to 3 to 4 years engineering experience in a design, development and manufacturing environment

  • Familiar with the use of CAD to generate 3D models and 2D drawings.

  • Experience of Ansys or similar software would be an advantage.

  • Highly numerate and computer literate

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Knowledge of 3D CAD design in Machined components or Assemblies

  • Whilst not essential, a knowledge of thermodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics would be useful

  • Basic knowledge of Electrical aspects of engineering
