An outstanding opportunity has arisen for our client who are specialists in their market sector. They are recruiting for a permanent Warehouse Supervisor, if you have Warehouse Supervisory experience in a fast paced environment this role could be ideal for you.

Job Specification

The Role

  • Plan and co-ordinate the incoming goods, storage and despatch of orders in a timely and efficient manner to achieve your team objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as determined by the Shift Manager. 
  • Achieve World Class Service to all customers through the despatching of goods.
  • Determine staffing levels and assign workload.
  • Deploy staff to other departments within the warehouse so priorities are met.
  • Communicate clear precise instructions and job expectations to all warehouse operatives on shift.
  • Monitor sickness and absence levels on a daily/weekly basis, ensuring all return to work paperwork is completed in a timely manner and passed over to Shift Manager for review.
  • Document all stock movements on a shift basis, through conventional paperwork and in-house date base system/mobility.
  • Ensure all members of the team are multi-skilled within the Warehouse.
  • Where required carry out investigations and deal with conduct/disciplinary issues with the authority to issue up to first written warning level.
  • Undertakes performance appraisals and proactively deal with performance issues including the provision of training to address shortfalls in performance.                             
  • Takes part in the recruitment process for Warehouse Operatives joining the business.
  • Responsible for monitoring the performance of new starters during the 3 month probationary period – completing the probationary review form deciding whether the new starter has passed, failed or the probationary period needs to be extended.
  • Responsible for providing a thorough handover at the end of the shift to assist in the smooth running of the next shift and for taking any action needed when being handed over to from the previous.
  • Ensure health & safety policies are adhered too, creating a safe working environment.
  • Ensure Warehouse Hygiene tasks are completed by the end of shift.
  • Ensure FLT/PPT checklists have been completed whilst on shift, recording any defects to Shift Manager.
  • Ensure relevant safe working practices are adhered too.
  • Shift reporting of progress to Shift Manager and Warehouse Manager.
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.

The Person

  • Experience of working as a Warehouse Supervisor ideally in a Warehouse fast paced environment.
  • Sound knowledge of warehouse systems & procedures.
  • Strong proven people manager with the ability to motivate/ engage/communicate with staff and tackle staff performance issues.
  • Experience of using technology – handheld scanners etc.
  • Sound knowledge of IT software packages (Windows & In-house data bases).
  • Flexibility and co-operation in relation to overtime working and assisting other departments when deemed necessary.
  • Experience of work scheduling/planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
