An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician to work in a rewarding role based in the Tyne and Wear area. Job Specification

The Role

  • Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, the postholder will be responsible to deliver, upkeep and complete regular planned maintenance of plant and machinery at the site.
  • To support of efficient and effective Production as measured in output figures. 
  • This comprises attending to day to day breakdowns as well as ensuring that equipment and plan are maintained in line with agreed plans.
  • As individuals and within a team, Maintenance Technicians must be able to communication appropriately both verbally and in writing, have good technical skills -
  • Mechanical/Electrical /Electro Mechanical - have problem solving ability, an analytical approach, be self-motivated and a team player when providing support to operations and other key stakeholders.           
  • Provide Maintenance support to Production by ensuring fast response to equipment problems.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement suitable solutions.
  • Provide support to on-site engineering projects.
  • Provide engineering solutions to recurring incidents of equipment problems- using good fault finding skills.
  • Recognise spares requirements.
  • Ability to carry out the necessary maintenance on all equipment on the Training Matrix.

The Person      

  • Time served Apprenticeship/Ordinary or Higher National Diploma or in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.                                                           
  • Experience in a Maintenance Technician role with an emphasis on Mechanical and Electrical engineering                                                      
  • A sound knowledge of PLCs is also required.                                                                 
  • Experience involving high volume production.                                                                
  • Desirable - familiar with the concepts of Lean manufacturing techniques - including TPM, SMED, 5S, Kaizen and autonomous teams.
