A leading Tyne and Wear based company are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join their team in a permanent role. Our client is committed to providing pioneering engineering services to their customers; this is an exciting opportunity and a well-rewarded role for the ideal candidate.

Job Specification

The Role

  • To effectively perform all the duties of either the Maintenance Electrician or Maintenance Millwright.
  • Undertake planned maintenance activities across the business, covering both electrical and mechanical areas with minimal support.
  • Provide reactive repair maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical/electronic systems, with an advanced knowledge in either the electrical or mechanical side.
  • Use appropriate measuring equipment and tools for diagnostic and test on electrical controls/drives and machine alignment work.
  • Liaise with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) service engineers as required, ensuring quick and efficient machine repairs.
  • Work shift patterns/overtime as required to enable suitable maintenance cover for production needs.
  • Record all maintenance related data on the company ERP system (IFS).
  • Mentor and train members of the maintenance team.
  • Ensure that you work in a safe manner and comply with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.
  • Carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected.

The Person

  • We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician with a good knowledge of CNC machine controls (i.e. Fanuc/Mazak/Siemens) and the ability to carry out electrical/mechanical installations.
  • The successful candidate will also have knowledge and experience on associated motor drives and the ability to carry out machine alignments, together with knowledge of laser alignment and ballbar checking.
  • Ideally the candidate will be educated in electrical/mechanical engineering with an HNC.
  • They will also possess at least five years of experience in repairing CNC tools.
  • The successful candidate will also have basic knowledge of operating CNC machines, and CNC programming would be an advantage.
  • The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to pass on knowledge to effectively train others.
