Our client is a well-established FMCG manufacturer who have developed a reputation of providing high quality products throughout the UK and beyond.

The focus of the role is to provide technical expertise in fault diagnosis and rectification across the site in the areas of controls systems, electronics, electrical and mechanical disciplines.

The company have delivered multi-million-pound investments to the site, with the latest industry automation and manufacturing systems. You will be working in a state-of-the-art facility, with further new equipment and machinery planned for the business. Your role will be highly diverse, interesting, technically challenging, and critical to the smooth running of the production areas. The company are also extremely employee focused, with huge investment in training and development for all of the staff.

Job Specification

The Role

  • Deliver all preventative and reactive maintenance tasks to good safety / engineering / site standards returning equipment to service with the minimum of downtime.  Ensuring that the site maintenance system is updated correctl
  • Rapid resolution of unplanned downtime issues
  • Compliance to Maintenance performance measures
  • Ownership of area major breakdowns and monitor breakdown occurrences
  • Initiation and implementation of improvement activities / projects           
  • Completion of an effective cross shift communication for handover issues
  • Initiate the purchase of parts or equipment completing the relevant order requisition forms with relevant information.  Where necessary order spare parts as required on shift if unavailable from stock and contact contractors/suppliers as required in order to resolve problems on shift.  
  • Compliance with Company policies, procedures and UK regulations (e.g. attendance, quality, safety, GMP’s, prevailing country laws, etc.) and ensure these are followed to maintain the required standards (e.g. Food Safety, PPE etc.).
  • Coaching of front line employees so they are capable of performing simple maintenance tasks such as lubrications and inspections      
  • Relevant Decisions (authority level) and scope of the position: (Typical decisions the job have total authority for making without approval)

The Person

  • Time served Engineer ideally with an HNC in a relevant Control Systems / Electrical / Mechanical disciplin
  • NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline
  • In-depth knowledge of controls / electrical / electronic / mechanics with direct industrial maintenance experience, in a modern technology centred high volume manufacturing process.
  • Ability to fault find on PLC’s.
  • Electrically biased.
  • Possess the ability to work on new and old machinery, automated systems, and a wide range of production equipment.
  • Able to respond to breakdowns swiftly, with urgency and accuracy.
