Company Description

A leading Tyne and Wear based company are looking for an experienced Inventory Operative to join their team in a 3-month contract. Our client is committed to providing pioneering engineering services to their customers; this is an exciting opportunity and a well-rewarded role for the ideal candidate.

Job Specification

The Role

  • Receive goods and services into the business via set procedures ensuring all items are correctly identified and located onto the computerised inventory system and stored accurately  in line with the stock location system
  • Carry out goods inward inspection duties on bought out components/raw materials working within the laid down procedures
  • Issue both BOC and Raw Materials to production in line with Quality Assurance requirements, production needs and SOP’s
  • Carry out the cycle and periodic stock takes ensuring that a high level of stock and accuracy is maintained, and credible data is available to the business
  • Support the maintenance of the stores department to meet the standards set within the 5S and stores requirements
  • Maintain a high level of change control for all raw material and finished parts against Bill of Material requirements
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft package to enable high quality administration
  • Understand the top-level processes of the business system (computer system, stores management system) demonstrating good navigation and problem-solving skills.
  • Extract relevant data from the system in the form of various reports
  • Produce reports and present/discuss the data
  • Understand and adhere to MRP principles, working within the concepts of supply, demand and allocatio
  • Understand and actively take part in continuous improvement activities

The Person

  • Applicants should possess similar previous experience in an engineering and/or manufacturing organisation and should hold a valid FLT licence (counter balance).
  • They will demonstrate a positive, innovative and motivated approach to their work combined with an ability to work under pressure within time constraints.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is a good knowledge of stock control processes and systems, and effective time management skills.
  • Applicants must also be flexible to work a variety of shifts and overtime when business needs require.
