A leading Tyne and Wear based Engineering company are looking for an Assembly and Test Technician to join their team on a permanent roles. Job Specification

The Role

  • Complete pressure testing activities in line with project specific requirements
  • Work to required quality standards and procedures.
  • Work as part of the testing team and interface with the production support department including production control, engineering and maintenance.
  • Use a range of hand tools and measuring equipment and have a working knowledge of inspection procedures in order to undertake self-inspection.
  • Operate computer systems for the recording of work activities.
  • Support the training of apprentices and trainees.
  • Undertakes fitting and assembly of components and finished good.
  • Able to use a range of hand tools and equipment measuring equipment together with working knowledge of inspection procedures to undertake self-inspection.
  • Work within single, small batch or a series of components and finished product processes.
  • Work to required quality standards and procedures.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and work with imperial and metric measures to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Work as part of assembly/fitting team and interface with production support department including production control, engineering, maintenance, and design.
  • Appreciation of quality improvement techniques and initiatives.
  • Material handling as required to load, unload and manoeuvre materials and finished components.
  • Operating computer system for recording of work activities.
  • Support training of apprentices and trainees.
  • Have a flexible approach to work activities including working various machines within capability and working shifts as required to meet production needs.

The Person

  • Succeed in this role applicants should have previous experience of working in a similar role and be time served in an engineering discipline.
  • Applicants must have an appreciation of quality improvement techniques and initiatives.
  • They will also have a flexible approach to work activities including working all shift patterns as required to meet production needs.
  • Similar previous experience in an engineering and/or manufacturing organisation
  • Effective time management, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints, self-motivated and enthusiasticYou will demonstrate a positive, innovative and motivated approach to your work combined with an ability to work under pressure and within time constraints, along with the ability to organise priorities and meet deadlines.
