Job Specification
The Role
- To design new products in accordance with relevant specifications, company quality procedures and industry standards
- To develop existing flowline product range investigating design improvement opportunities
- Responsible for ensuring all deliverables are technically in accordance with company or client requirements
- To actively engage with customers and worldwide client regional staff to establish market pains and NPD opportunities
- Attend NPD review meetings ensuring commercial awareness
- To work with suppliers during development of new products to specify/design new key components
- Support internal checking and approvals procedures are adhered to
- Responsible for ensuring that document numbering and revision control procedure is conformed to
- Submit Technical Requisition documents for subcontracted or sub-vended engineering scope
- To produce calculations, drawings and models in accordance with relevant industry standards and specifications
- To develop Finite Element Analysis methodologies and techniques for use as a practical design tool
- To check calculations, drawings and models in accordance with relevant industry standards and specifications
- Ensure that any design changes which may have a cost or schedule impact to the relevant project personnel
- To arrange test specifications and schedules for new product development
- Supervise product testing where necessary, both internally and with customers
- To actively promote the R&D team through publishing of technical papers, patent applications and ensuring smooth product launches
- Be fully aware of personal workload, prioritise and organise to ensure deadlines are achieved
- Ensure a high standard of professionalism is maintained and that customer care is foremost
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department
- Ensure personal compliance with all HSE legislation and HSE Company policy
- Responsible for the development of systems and improvement in working practices and processes
- Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times
- Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager
- Travel required as dictated by project needs and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager.

- HNC /HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Working knowledge of design projects within multi-disciplinary teams
- Working knowledge within a manufacturing environment and within the Energy Industry
- Experience of taking New Product Development projects from conception to launch
- Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and AutoDeskSuite, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MRP/ERP systems).
- Understanding of ISO9001
- Working knowledge in hand calculations, knowledge of design codes including, EC Directives and CE Marking, API 6A , ASME VIII Boiler and Pressure Vessels, ASME B31
- Have an understanding of commonplace industry materials and their application
- Have a good knowledge of current advances in design and manufacturing
- Training and practical experience in Finite Element Analysis methodologies
