Our client is a well-established FMCG manufacturer who have developed a reputation of providing high quality products throughout the UK and beyond. The role will report into the Plant Manager and be responsible for the Technical Officer and QA Supervisor.  This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and customer focused Technical Manager.

 

Job Specification


The Role

  •  As part of the site Senior Management team, attend site management meetings;
  • Manage Technical & Hygiene budgets;
  • Direct line Management of the QA and Technical Teams;
  •  Manage Hygiene contract and take responsibility of site hygiene standards;
  • Manage and maintain the site internal audit and corrective action programmes;
  • Participate in the generation of the companies QMS;
  • Manage the supplier approval processes – risk assessment and auditing suppliers, maintaining approval supplier list;
  • Approval and risk assessment of new ingredients and packaging;
  • Manage company quality management and food safety systems;
  • Liaise with customers/ NPD / Production with regards to current and new specifications and technical issues;
  • Maintain accreditation of plant; BRC/AIB/Cert ID and pass all customer audits;
  • Manage customer and consumer complaints;
  • Non-GMO Traceability Program
  • Management of site trials for new materials, raw material rationalization, inter-company transfers and cost reduction programmes;
  • Awareness of site Halal policy and requirements
  • Liaison with personnel at all levels in various departments within the business. 
  • Regular communication with customers and suppliers will be required.
  • Mainly an office based role but regular factory floor involvement.
  • The job holder will occasionally be required to visit suppliers / customers off site.

The Person

  • HNC/D Degree in Food Science subject
  • Food industry experience
  • Management experience within a similar role
  • Thorough understanding of HACCP, Quality Management Systems, certification systems such as BRC/AIB/cert ID.
  • Knowledge of UK and EU food legislation
  • Experienced in supplier quality assurance
  • Sound knowledge of UK retailer technical standards
  • Good managerial training and presentation skills
  • Computer literate
